The next open membership meeting for the Seattle Area Archivists will be at the Seattle Art Museum’s Maloney Conference Room on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 3-5 pm. In lieu of the usual business-and-tour format, we’ll host a brainstorming session on further ideas for SeaAA events and priorities, using the results of our membership survey as a jumping-off point.
If you can’t join us in person but have more feedback you didn’t get to express in the survey, please email us your thoughts at seattle.area.archivists AT gmail.com. We really do want to hear from the membership on how we can best facilitate greater involvement and interaction!
We would appreciate an RSVP via email so we can make sure to have enough space (and bring enough snacks!).

Please join us for this important meeting on Friday, May 26th, from 2-4 PM. We will be at: NARA SEATTLE, 6125 SAND POINT WAY NE.
The outgoing Steering Committee will announce the results of the Steering Committee election for the 2017-2019 term. We will also learn about the National Archives, their holdings, and how one can perform research.
We hope to see many of you there!
The Seattle Area Archivists Steering Committee would like to thank everyone who attended our special happy hour last week to discuss the future of SeaAA. We were so pleased with the turnout and it was clear from the meeting that our membership wants SeaAA to continue! We made a call for nominations and volunteers to serve on the steering committee and have already heard from several of you who expressed interest. If you have not already contacted us with a nomination or to volunteer, we ask that you please do so by March 31. If we have exactly five potential new members, we will proceed without an election. If we receive more than five, we will hold an election in April. Thank you again to everyone!
The Seattle Area Archivists asks you to please attend a special topic Happy Hour at 6 PM on March 8th at the Elysian Tangletown pub in Wallingford.
The Steering Committee would like to discuss the future of SeaAA and we need to hear input from our membership. SeaAA has been a positive presence in the Seattle archival community for more than 30 years, however, we have recently been unsuccessful in recruiting new officers to serve on the Steering Committee. We have been operating with only three members for almost a year now (there are five established positions) and the current officers’ terms all expire at the end of June 2017. Please come and bring your energy and ideas to discuss how SeaAA might continue. The organization needs guidance and leadership from within its membership to continue to operate successfully. If we are unable to find at least 3 new officers, ideally 5 to return to the norm, SeaAA will unfortunately be forced to disincorporate at the end of the current officers’ terms. We hope to see many of you at this special happy hour – the first round is on SeaAA, so please join us!
Seattle Area Archivists go to Capitol Hill this month! Meet with your colleagues at Capitol Cider, 818 E. Pike St. at 6 PM on Monday, July 11th. We’ll be in the downstairs game room. Parking on Capitol Hill is extremely limited, as usual. Transit is a better option, as light rail, streetcar, and Metro bus routes 10, 11, 49, and others all stop close by.
Hope to see many of you there!
